Tybee Salutes Heroes 2014

Tybee Salutes Heroes 2014 is underway as we celebrate our men and women in the military and their families! Visit Tybee, The American Legion Post #154, the City of Tybee Island, Mermaid Cottages and our entire community are excited to join together for this island-wide celebration. Active and retired military personnel are invited to bring their families for a relaxing weekend of activities. Weekend highlights include family-friendly events at the American Legion and the Tybee Salutes Heroes Parade on Saturday, November 15th at 1:00pm.

The Tybee Salutes Heroes Parade will be going down Butler Avenue beginning at 1:00pm. We’ll start out on 14^th Street to Butler Avenue, then hear North to Memorial Park (5^th Street and Butler Ave.). There will be a ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park, between 4th and 5th Streets on Butler Avenue, directly after the parade.

Enlisted Men’s Mess Hall circa 1929 is a Tybee landmark originally built as a soldiers’ mess hall. This charming and vintage cottage is part of a duplex that has been completely restored and preserved. You’ll love that it’s pet friendly and it has a fenced-in yard.
