The Joy of Magazines

I just love magazines. Nothing makes me happier then to have a big stack of magazines to go through before I recyle them. Right now I have a large stack and am getting through them a few each night. I love to pull articles out to send to people to let them know I’m thinking about them ( found a great article to send to my sister about the “Hon Fest” in Baltimore where every June a festival occurs to pay homage to all those “Ballmore” gals who call everyone “Hon”.). Other article treasures I found tonight include a great idea for Brown Bag Lunches to share with my friend Susan that she can use for the an upcoming Vintage Trailor Tour on Tybee Island. Then, an article on a local SCAD graduate and Savannah artist, and best of all, some inspirations collected by writer Mary Engelbreit. They’ve inspired me and I want to share!

“Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on Fire.”
Anonymous

“Some of us have great runways already built for us. If you have one, take off! But if you don’t have one, realize it is your responsibility to grab a shovel and build one for yourself and those who will follow after you.”
Amelia Earhart, American aviator

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; There is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.”
Mary Engelbreit.

Now, I’m on to the next stack which includes a bunch of Southern Livings! By the way, if you ever want to read about Mermaid Cottages in the media, just follow right along with our handy list of publications, writers, producers and special friends we’ve worked with over the years.  Go to our Home page, hover over the Community tab and then scroll down to Mermaids in the Media and click on the tab.  It’s always a great honor and a thrill to be mentioned and even we get giddy when we look back on how many times we’ve been featured.  Read all about us and then come on down when you can.  We invite you to share your photos, your comments and your blogs about your stays with Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island. You might even be featured in our social media.  Wouldn’t that be fun?

Tybee Island Blues

tybee island blues

Tybee Island Blues can happen at any time.  You start missing our happy little cottages.  You miss the picturesque sunrises and our breathtaking sunsets.  You long for bike rides and leisurely walks along the beach.  The seaside memories keep wafting through your mind.  We have the blues all the time, though in a vastly different context.  The lavender blues of our morning skies.  The ultramarine blues of our coastal waters.  The passionate blues of our bedrooms.  The haint blues of our porch ceilings that emulate the sea; since spirits refuse to cross bodies of water.  We get it and so do you.  Just look at these blues that make us so happy!
