The 10 best landing spots for Santa Claus just happen to be on Tybee Island and all are cottages from Mermaid Cottages. Ordinarily, with snow on the ground where you are, Santa must land his sleigh on the ridges of steep roofs around the world. Not so on our little barrier island. Tybee Island has a long stretch of flat, sandy beaches just perfect for that soft touch landing Rudolph and the other reindeer dream about. No matter which cottage you choose for your Christmas vacation, the ocean is not far away, which also pleases the reindeer team so they can cool off their hooves in the surf. Which cottage is best for you? Full Moon Tours from the Tybee Island Lighthouse will be available through August 11, 2022. View the sun from the top of the lighthouse as it dips below the horizon, then walk to the other side of the catwalk to watch as the full moon majestically emerges over the Atlantic Ocean! This unique opportunity lasts about ninety minutes and includes a walk to the top of the lighthouse, a tour of the head keeper’s house, and admission to the full site the next day. Tickets are $35 and nonrefundable. Children must be 13 years or older to participate. Reservations are required as spots on this small tour fill up quickly. Call 912-786-5801.
