This Christmas, you could be getting one of Mary Kay Andrews’ lucky red currant aromatherapy candles in the mail along with a copy of Christmas Bliss.  “Christmas is coming, but Savannah antique dealer Weezie Foley is doubly distracted—both by her upcoming wedding to her longtime love, chef Daniel Stipanek and also by the fact that her best friend and maid-of-honor BeBe Loudermilk is due to give birth any day—and is still adamantly refusing to marry her live-in-love Harry. Readers have come to love these characters in Mary Kay Andrews’ three previous Savannah novels:  Savannah Blues, Savannah Breeze, and Blue Christmas.”

Now, we say you should go ahead and pile in the car, forward your mail to Tybee and just wait for the packages to start piling up at Breeze Inn.  MKA’s circa 1943 cottage is an easy two block walk to the 9th Street beach walk-over and an easy stroll to the grocery store and restaurants. Totally restored and remodeled in 2009, the Breeze Inn has three bedrooms and three baths, a cook’s kitchen and a comfy living space with flat-screen TV.  The shelves are full of the author’s books and other wonderful “beachy” reads and there’s a private screened back porch where you can sit and read or relax and listen to the sounds of Tybee in winter. The cottage is decorated from top to bottom by MKA herself with family-friendly vintage and antique treasures collected from estate sales and flea markets around the country.  You’ll also have another autographed MKA novel waiting for you along with a welcome note.

MKA has been crisscrossing the country on her book tour, but I just had to reach out to her when I spied this mention in the June issue of Deep South Magazine.  The article detailed different beaches that had inspired famous writers.  The article talked about Tennessee Williams and Key West, Pat Conroy and Daufuskie Island, Edgar Allen Poe and Sullivan Island and others.  Then, lo and behold, out popped this, “Newer on the Southern literary scene but making just as big a splash with her classic beach reads is Mary Kay Andrews. The best-selling author lives part of the time on Tybee Island and has featured the island and the Georgia coast in several of her books, like “Savannah Breeze.” Andrews’ Tybee beach cottage, The Breeze Inn, is available for rent.”

Then, I logged onto Facebook and up popped photos of MKA at various book signings.  Check her out!  She was wearing this very chic, little …
