Tybee Island Is A Pet Friendly Paradise

Tybee Island is a pet friendly paradise and fall is the perfect season to get out and paw around! It’s the end of summer and the beginning of the best time to visit our little barrier island. The crowds are gone. The traffic tie ups are no more. The sun is still shining and it’s time for a real pawty, doggone it!

Tybee Twins

This pet friendly cottage has three bedrooms and three full baths. There’s a private Master suite upstairs and a fenced in yard. The neighborhood is so walkable, you and your FurMaids will enjoy strolling around the island by day and then curling up in front of the electric fireplace in the evenings.

Want something really special to bark about? This towering raised cottage comes with three screened porches. This is such a great house for family get-togethers and the fenced yard is perfect for play dates with your pups!

Traveling with pets? Anyone who has a pet knows it’s hard to leave your pet behind. Here are some words of advice about pet-friendly Tybee Island and our happy little houses by the sea. Remember, we have cottages that allow dogs, dogs, and cats, and we’ve even had birds, reptiles and fish in our homes!

Pre-plan your preparedness
* Make your pet comfortable both during travel and at the destination. Practice short trips to the park to associate good things with your planned method of travel.
* Try harnesses instead of leashes while traveling.
* Make sure your pet has your name and number on it, and maybe consider a tracking app.
* Work on doing their business on command. That will help when you’re stopping during travel, and will help when you get to your destination so your pet will know where to ‘go’. …

A new bath makes a big splash on Tybee Island and we want you to come see it! The off season may be when fewer people are enjoying beach getaways, but it’s definitely the time when our cottages all get deep cleans and new updates. If you’ve ever been on a Girls Getaway, a family beach trip or had a Big Chill weekend with friends, you know it can be a real challenge to get everyone ready and out the door for meals and nights on the town. So, if there’s ever an update that guests really appreciate, it’s a new bath.

Tybee Island Pirate Fest

This year’s Tybee Island Pirate Fest is October 28-30, 2016! Ole Hurricane Matthew blew the original dates right off of our social calendar, but hey, pirates want to have fun, too. There’s no way we’re gonna miss marauding, pillaging and grogging, either!

We’ve got our wench wear and pirate garb all laid out for all the fun and now we need you to come join us! Book your cottage for Pirate Fest and you’ll be in for a huge share of our available pirates’ booty. Book two nights and we’ll throw in another two nights as our guests. Just think, even if you can’t get here before Friday, with this special you can add Thursday night as one of your two free nights. This way, you can check in any time after 4 p.m. on Thursday. Then, even if you can’t stay over Sunday night, adding Sunday as your other free night means you’ll have a late checkout on Sunday. Spend all day at the beach and then head for home later in the day.

Mermaid Cottages welcomes your FurMaids, so always bring them along when you visit! Most Mermaid Cottages are pet friendly and it’s a treat for us when our pet guests bring along their well-behaved humans. We work extensively with Savannah area animal rescue groups and there’s always a need for pet food. Now through February 28, 2016 bring your pet AND a donation of pet food (dry or canned) and your pet will stay free (Excludes holidays and special events dates. New reservations only, please.)!
