Vote for Danny! A Politician we can all get behind!

The conventions are wrapped up. I’ve watched every minute I possibly could of both the Democratic and Republican events. I love politics and I love my country. I love watching these contests that happen every 4 years where these amazing men AND women of both parties talk about their own love of our country and how hard they want to work to make our United States of America the best she can possibly be. I’ve been amazed at the speeches and dedication- on both sides – and how passionate they all are about changing our world . We can all work together, no matter who wins to create change. Whatever your personal passion- the environment, education, the homeless, children, doesn’t matter- but work to serve a cause greater then yourself so we can continue to make this truly the greatest nation on earth.

There is a cause we can all vote for and agree on! Vote for my Danny for the Tybee Breeze Pet of the Month! Go to http://www.tybeebreeze.com/ then click on Pet Contest. Vote for Danny! Despite the fact the competition is – of all pets- Squirty the Loggerhead Sea Turtle who was released in August! OMGun fair! Who doesn’t love a sea turtle! Especially one that was raised from a 1 inch hatchling! But look at this picture that was taken by Christine Hall http://www.christinehallphotography.com/ earlier this summer that I submitted to the contest.
The winner will be announced in the October Issue of the Tybee Breeze. Danny thanks you!

AND DON’T FORGET TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN THE NOVEMBER ELECTION! Everyone needs to vote- again- doesn’t matter who you vote for- just vote!!!

For the love of dogs….

My sister and her family had to put to sleep their wonderful Golden Retriever , Rocky this week. Rocky was an older dog they adopted from a great rescue group in Los Angeles which only works with Goldens and especially older dogs. Rocky had lost his eye in a cat fight with his previous owners before they turned him into a shelter and he was then rescued by my family. He was a great dog, always happy and smiling and loved his life with the Callahan Family. Visit this website for more information about adopting older dogs and the joy they bring to their humans…
Rocky, you knew how loved you were and that’s the best any of us can hope for- humans or dogs…Thank you for being such a great dog.

Also be sure to visit one of our favorite Artist’s Blogs- Fifi Flowers Design Decor and look at her recent paintings of dogs…

Look for info on the leash cutting of the Tybee Bark Parks on Saturday….

Pure Bliss

I shared with everyone earlier this summer my plans for the photo shoot with the fabulous Christine Hall of Christine Hall Photography. Christine offered a special this summer where she would photograph your pets and donate the proceeds to various Savannah and Chatham County Animal Rescue groups as her way of giving back. All she asked was you donate a bag of dog food as well.

I brought my two labs to downtown Savannah on a hot Sunday afternoon in June and the very patient Christine took a series of shots of the dogs. It was not easy, the dogs were so excited by all the sights and sounds of the city , especially when the horse and buggy full of visitors trotted by! That would have been the shot I shared with you all, me trying to control two 90 pound dogs who desperately wanted to chase that horse down the lane!

This is my favorite- capturing that look of pure bliss . Even though this was Danny’s moment of happiness, I think we all have this look when someone is petting our heads and telling us how special and loved you are!

Christine’s website is full of great examples of families, children, weddings and pets and she loves to come to the beach to shot! http://www.christinehallphotography.com/

The newest memeber of the Mermaid Family

Sue and Gary Bentley with our Mermaid Cottages family ( Gary is our accounting office and Sue is our “can do everything” gal) have adopted a beautiful new dog! Ace comes from Marantha Farms which is an amazing adoption/ animal rescue group dedicated to helping injured, abused and abandoned animals find their forever homes. Isn’t that a great expression! Your forever home! Sue and Gary recently lost their two dogs, Misty and Charlie – both who had lived long happy dog lives . Ace is- in Gary’s words- the perfect dog! Loving, knows his name, happy to sit by Gary all day long while he’s working and just “happy to be here”. He knows how lucky he is to be rescued!

Visit http://www.maranthafarm.org/ for more details on this non profit organization and when you can- use http://www.goodsearch.com/ which is a new search engine and on line shopping mall that donates 50% of its revenues to whatever charites you designate every time you search ( so we hope you’ll designate marantha farm) .

And next time you call Gary’s office for anything – be sure you ask him to tell Ace hello!

June 20th "National take your dog to work day"

Today is the day to take your pet to work . http://www.takeyourdog.com/ is the official website for all the details! Danny and Max are lucky ( or maybe I’m the lucky one) because they are at work with me every day. In fact, they do keep me on track with my fitness program- if they aren’t walked in the morning by 9AM, Danny will bark and Max will just sit there and look at me with his big brown eyes until I notice him,get up, put on his harness and head out. Same routine happens around 5PM, another walk before dinner! Nothing like a dog to make your feel guilty!

The Today Show ran a story this morning about companies that offer this as a perk for their associates . Increased productivity and creativity were two pluses mentioned by companies that are pet friendly for their teams. And one CEO even said that his dog was so important that he will only consider a pet friendly hotel or vacation destination when he travels! Music to our pet friendly cottages and homes! View the video clip from the show.
