Dwell in Possibility – Emily Dickenson
What better place to DWELL than Tybee Island, and what better place to dwell on Tybee Island than a Mermaid Cottage!
Spring, summer, winter or fall, Mermaid Cottages make your stay just that much… more.
So, come dwell with us, for 2 days or 2 weeks. Let’s be possible together.
We invite you to stay or stay to play at a Mermaid Cottage!
Introducing, one of our newest cottages, Beach Bubble Bungalow!
We’re bubbling over with excitement about one of our newest cottages! Just short ‘Tybee blocks’ to the beach, Beach Bubble is a great little gem.
3 bedrooms, 2 baths and sleeps 8 very comfortably with lots of retro-modern charm, you’ll be bubbling too!
Note: *Until May 26, 2019, Mermaid Cottages just requires a 2-night minimum reservation in most of our cottages. Memorial Day weekend, 2019, we require a 3 night minimum on all cottages. Starting June 1, 2019, we require a 6-7 night minimum with check-ins on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. But we always have shorter stays available during the summer ~ please just ask!
The Joy of Magazines
I just love magazines. Nothing makes me happier then to have a big stack of magazines to go through before I recyle them. Right now I have a large stack and am getting through them a few each night. I love to pull articles out to send to people to let them know I’m thinking about them ( found a great article to send to my sister about the “Hon Fest” in Baltimore where every June a festival occurs to pay homage to all those “Ballmore” gals who call everyone “Hon”.). Other article treasures I found tonight include a great idea for Brown Bag Lunches to share with my friend Susan that she can use for the an upcoming Vintage Trailor Tour on Tybee Island. Then, an article on a local SCAD graduate and Savannah artist, and best of all, some inspirations collected by writer Mary Engelbreit. They’ve inspired me and I want to share!
“Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on Fire.”

“Some of us have great runways already built for us. If you have one, take off! But if you don’t have one, realize it is your responsibility to grab a shovel and build one for yourself and those who will follow after you.”
Amelia Earhart, American aviator
“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; There is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.”
Mary Engelbreit.
Now, I’m on to the next stack which includes a bunch of Southern Livings! With celebration in our hearts and the future of Georgia’s coasts on our minds, we cordially invite you to our 2019 Oyster Roast hosted for its fourth year at Grove Point. The Oyster Roast will feature local oysters, BBQ, live music, cold SweetWater beer and much, much more!
The tickets include Sapelo Island Sea Farm oyster and clams, barbeque (all prepared by Erica Davis – Low Country Catering), SweetWater Brewing Company beer, Coca-Cola refreshments, campfires, and live music.
Fiddler crabs abound on our barrier islands!
I just love fiddler crabs. We even have a cottage named after them that sits on one of tybee’s tidal creeks. They live in the marsh mud and come out when it’s 80* or warmer. There are over million fiddler crabs in one square mile. These are some pictures we took on a summer boat trip with sundial charters and the terrific Capt Rene.
