Mary Kay Andrews will be visiting Tybee Island and Seaside Sisters to autograph her latest New York Times bestseller BEACH TOWN on Thursday, July 2, 2015. Come early to shop MKA’s junkin’ corner and for all things MKA and then get ready for her BEACH TOWN celebration from 1-4 p.m. There’ll also be live music, drawings and a special giveaway to the first 40 people who show up!

In BEACH TOWN , Greer Hennessy is a struggling movie location scout. Her last location shoot ended in disaster. Now Greer has been given one more chance—a shot at finding the perfect undiscovered beach town for a big budget movie. It’s THE beach read of this Summer and your day to meet MKA!

Chef, boy are we excited to see Chef Steven Satterfield in Savannah and Tybee Island this weekend! Steven co-owns our Castaway Cottage circa 1955 with his partner, Ben, and we’re always thrilled to see them on the island. Steven will be signing copies of his latest book From Root To Leaf, so you have two great opportunities to meet him, pick up his book and have him sign it. He’ll be hanging around to meet and chat, so why not go to both!

Saturday June 20th at The Florence in Savannah from 1-3 p.m. Entrance is free and complimentary light bites will be served. There will be a cash bar, as well.

Sunday June 21st at Tybee Island Fish Camp from 5-7 p.m. Free entrance here, too, and there will be light bites and cash bar. Please make reservations for dinner at Fish Camp after the signing.

July 8/9, July 20/21: This historic Tybee raised cottage is on the beach side of Butler Avenue and only one block from the beach. Pets are welcome with the fully fenced yard and the wrap around porch is filled with rocking chairs!

Revisiting an Old Love in Tybee Island

Reaching back to touch upon memories from the past is much like revisiting an Old Love in Tybee Island. Many trains have come and gone, having brought Savannah folks and wealthy Americans to this little slice of the Georgia coast, once upon a time. There were days past when making the 18 mile journey from the Hostess City out to Tybee would have taken the better part of a day and then the railroad came. Excited beach goers could enjoy the leisurely ride out to the edge of the ocean and then take those last longing looks at the sea as the train headed back at sunset. One of the most beautiful memories of that time waits to receive her guests in grand style long after the trains have stopped. Still validating the ticket dreams of those coming to let go of the stresses and worries of life on the mainland.
