Mermaid Cottages feature original art wherever possible. We also love to donate original art to various non profit events on Tybee Island and in Savannah to help raise money for their very important causes. This piece of beautiful art by local artist Jill Ferree was purchased by Mermaid Cottages and donated to this wonderful fundraiser coming up August 15, 2015. Our favorite animal rescue group One Love Animal Rescue will be one of the beneficiaries of this event. …

Where Does Your Good Go? The Rescue of Rapa

where does your good goWhere does your good go?  Within each of us is a capacity for doing good for others and when we do this good the rewards are great.  This entry is part of a blog series about how our Mermaids Make A Difference.  It’s not a platform for us to just talk about our good deeds and to pat ourselves on the back.  It’s an opportunity to share our passions and to inspire others.  We don’t all have to be passionate about the same things, but it is important for each of us to be open to helping others.  Some people are fortunate enough to have lots of time and resources to do great things.  Others with less resources can make just as much of an impact.  We just have to do good when and where we see the need.  Have you thought about it?  Where does your good go?

One of the passions we are happy to share is our work to educate and preserve wildlife around the world.  Lead by our Head Mermaid Diane, our Mermaids have donated time, monies and resources to fund education and to support conservation efforts around the world.  Here’s an update from one of our partners. …

The Big Float

the big floatWe’re very excited about The Big Float coming up this month.  No, it’s not a giant ice cream float, but it’s just as much fun!  Join us when SweetWater’s Heady Peddlers – SC and Savannah wash up at North Island Surf and Kayak on August 29.  We’ll be paddling (canoe, kayak, SUP, floats, etc.) and proceeds from the rental/tour will be donated to the Savannah Riverkeeper!  Participants will be given two tickets to be entered into the BOTE raffle for their tie-dye wrapped SUP! Early registration earns you two additional tickets, so call 912-786-4000 to sign up.  At the after-party there’ll be a drawing hosted right next door at Bubba Gumbo’s from 5-8 p.m.!
