Tybee Island Black History Trail invites you to its ribbon-cutting ceremony. Join us on May 16th at 10:30 AM at the Tybee Island History Museum to celebrate the launch of the trail!
The Tybee Island Black History Trail documents the arrival of enslaved Africans at Lazaretto Creek Quarantine Station and follows their ancestral journey to present-day Tybee.
Tybee Island’s Black History Trail represents more than two years of collaborative efforts to document and honor Tybee Island’s Black community through archival work and oral histories led by volunteers from Tybee MLK Human Rights Organization, the faculty and students from Georgia Southern University and the Tybee Island Historical Society.
Most of the cottages in our collection are vintage or historic and we’d be delighted to have you as our guests.
