Mermaid Tale: Welcome to Greene Cottage on Tybee Island!

Welcome to Greene Cottage, 1513 Jones Ave Tybee Island, Georgia! Our vintage circa 1930’s cottage has been fully restored by a Georgia family who fell in love with Tybee Island! This little cottage has been restored from top to bottom and is full of treasures hand-selected to fill the home with charm.

Original local art, slip-covered furniture, and charming details are everywhere you look in this cottage. There’s a cozy corner for everyone, and a fully equipped kitchen for dining in, or a charcoal grill for those grill masters wishing to enjoy the outdoors. And, one of the best features of this cottage is the outdoor shower! This completely private shower has hot and cold water and accessible thru the 2nd bathroom. You can wash the sand and salt away after those long hours of beach combing, or just enjoy the beautiful outdoors while showering, it’s up to you! Greene Cottage is also pet friendly, so don’t leave your babies behind! There will be a fresh stock Beach Bum Biscuits just waiting for them to enjoy!

Greene Cottage is cozy, yet there’s enough space to gather as a family, or relax and unwind solo. The owner is a yoga teacher and there is a sense of calm to this cottage…you may even leave fully restored yourself! The cottage is located at the south end of Jones Ave, a close walk to the island’s South Beach as well as everything Downtown Tybee has to offer. The many attractions of Tybee Island are just minutes from your door: the Tybee Marine Science Center, the Tybee Pavillion and Fishing Pier, as well as the Back River Fishing Pier and kayak launching site! Your cottage is close to everything!

What are you waiting for? Tybee Island and Mermaid Cottages has everything you could ask for in a vacation. The only thing missing is YOU! Give us a call at 912.313.0784 or book your trip online. Either way, we can’t wait to hear from you soon!

Mermaid Tale: Welcome to Save the Whales Cottage!

Mermaid Cottages welcomes you to 203 Lovell Avenue and the sweetest little cottage around. Save the Whales Cottage is the perfect choice for your next visit to Tybee Island. With two bedrooms and one bath, this home is the perfect couples retreat or a girlfriend’s getaway. Save the Whales cottage is full of local and regional art and will charm you the minute you walk through the door. This home is the perfect place to discover what Tybee Time truly means!

Your cottage is in a wonderful mid-island location, close to everything you could possibly need during your stay. You’ll enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, complimentary high speed internet and WiFi, and cable television for those days you just want to lounge at home. Bring your bicycles and walking shoes though, because it is an easy two blocks to the island’s beautiful beach! Don’t want to bother with packing bulky beach gear? Well, Tim’s Beach Gear had everything you need, from bicycles to beach carts, even Bocce ball, so pay them a visit once you get settled in!

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what a recent guest had to say:

“The cottage was spotlessly clean and so cute. It was small but definitely enough room for 3 adults and a child. The house is a couple streets in from the main road and quite, even though it’s within walking distance to beach and restaurants. We really enjoyed the fact that the beach was walking distance (only 2 blocks away!) especially since you have to pay to park there. We also enjoyed the back patio; it’s very serene place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. Management was great as well, very responsive and friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer!”

Don’t wait any longer; summer is practically here and the only thing missing is YOU. Book your trip online, or give us a call at 912.313.0784 and let us make your mermaid dreams come true!

Live Like a Local: More Sea Turtle Nests for Tybee Island!

It’s been a busy week or so for Tybee! The last few days of May, volunteers Earnest, Pat, and Ann with the Tybee Sea Turtle Project found three sea turtle crawls! One has even been marked as a possible nest!

So far this year, Tybee Island now has four nests. Tybee has never had this many nests in May before, so hopefully this is a good sign that we will have a record sea turtle nesting season!

Find more beautiful pictures on the Tybee Sea Turtle Project Facebook Page!

Just yesterday morning, Mermaid Cottages’ own Jan and Bobby Meyer had a hand in the discovery of two crawls! There was even a report from a jogger that he had sighted a loggerhead leaving the ocean for the sand during his evening run, so the good people with the Tybee Sea Turtle Project are hoping to discover another nest soon!

To keep up with the island’s latest sea turtle news, make sure to stay tuned to our blog, and head over to follow the official Tybee Sea Turtle Project Facebook Page!

Mermaid Sighting: Lovely Mermaids Reflected in St. Augustine

Everyone here at Mermaid Cottages loves sharing mermaid sightings! We love seeing new pictures from all over come in, and how unique and beautiful they are. This week’s sighting comes from Mary A.; though Mary is from Savannah, she was out for the day with friends in St. Augustine, Florida when she spotted this gorgeous mermaid!

St. Augustine is full of beautiful shops and loads of history. Mary tells us this lovely mirrored maiden was hiding in a window nook right inside the garden door of a sweet little vintage shop. She certainly reflects that, doesn’t she? She’s just beautiful Mary, thank you for sharing!

Have you seen a mermaid? Well, we’d love to hear about it! Please send us your mermaid sightings and stories! You can send your sightings to, then keep your eyes peeled, because your sighting could be the next featured right here on our blog!
