If you are still hoping for a visit to Tybee Island this summer, you are in luck! School might be in session for some, but the beautiful warm weather and sunny days are still here on the island. We have quite a few cottages available in September, don’t fret!
Rose’s Folie is one such cottage! This little cottage is circa 1936 and just begs you to come in, relax, and enjoy your time at the beach! It’s an easy 10 minute walk to Tybee’s North Beach, and your dog will love relaxing or playing in the peaceful fenced in yard. Rose’s Folie sleeps eight very comfortably, with 2 queen beds and 2 singles. The cottage is also close to restaurants and other attractions, like the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum!
Sanford’s Place is also available for bookings in September! From the vintage decor and furniture, to the 1960s television, Sanford’s place is a retro delight! The fun of downtown might only be five minutes away, but the cottage is still a quiet place to relax and unwind. Whether you are looking for the downtown beaches or the Back River, they are both a leisurely eight minute stroll from your cottage.
Another cottage available for your plans is Maddie’s on Jones! This bright and cheerful cottage is just waiting for you, so let the relaxation begin. The three bedrooms are perfect for a group of up to six. You’ll enjoy the large live oaks and palms, and the large completely fenced back yard. Maddie’s is pet friendly too, so bring your furry kids along to enjoy the cottage life as well. This home is in the perfect location to enjoy everything Tybee has to offer. Bring your bicycle or walking shoes and enjoy the easy four block stroll to the beach. Enjoy the enclosed outdoor shower, complete with hot and cold water, after your beach combing as well! You can take a leisurly walking tour of the shops and restaurants downtown during your stay, too. Make sure to sample island favorites like Charly’s, The Sundae Cafe, and Mac Elwees…all within a few blocks from your cottage door! If you need even more shopping and dining,Historic Savannah is only a 20 minute drive from your island retreat.

It has been a busy, bustling 2011 summer season here at Mermaid Cottages! We love being full up with happy beach bums, and hearing from those satisfied guests is just the cherry on top for us. Andrea, a recent guest all the way from Walnut Creek, California, had this to share about her stay at Back River Bungalow:
“My children and grandchildren join my husband and I for a week of unplugging. The house had great space for six adults and two kids plus a baby. We had slow starts to the days, enjoyed the walk to the beach–the only exercise we got! We enjoyed the screened in porch in the evening.
We used Tim’s Beach Gear that Mermaid recommended and had great stuff for the baby items plus our “beach camp.” The waves were perfect for the 5 and 10 year olds. The outdoor shower was the best part of the day–cool water, get the sticky off and keep the sand out of the house.
We brought our own food and had all that we needed in the kitchen. The washer/drying in the kitchen made keeping up with the laundry a breeze. Grocery store and restaurants were within walking distance as well.
The only problem we had was an air filter that needed to be replaced and a Mermaid was on it the next day.
One of the most restful vacations I have had in a long time.”
