It’s that time again! The Critz Tybee Run Fest  is right around the corner (February 3rd and 4th) and they are having their annual contest to choose this year’s t-shirt design! Many local and regional artists submitted, and some entries even came from as far away as Oregon and New Jersey! Loads of wonderful work was submitted and a panel of judges made up of race organizers and the Savannah Morning News did the hard job of narrowing the group down to the top five finalists. Now? Well, it’s your turn to help!

Check out the Top Five, think it over, pick your favorite, then head over and VOTE! Voting is happening now, and will run through January 5th. You’re voting for the design you think should grace the 2012 Critz Tybee Run Fest t-shirt! It’s going to be a hard choice…just look how wonderful they all are!

Ring in 2012 in Style on Tybee Island!

This Saturday, December 31st, the year 2011 comes to a close and we ring in 2012! Here on Tybee, we love a good excuse for a party, and a new year is definitely a great one! Come ring in 2012 Tybee Style at the annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks show with us! The show starts at the stroke of midnight. Curl up in your beach chair or on a blanket to watch the spectacular fireworks display from the South Beach areas, or right in the middle of the fun at the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. It’s always a fabulous show, so don’t miss it!

The fun doesn’t end on New Year’s Eve either. This year is the 12th annual Tybee Polar Plunge! Even better? This year, you can be a part of history as Tybee tries to set a new world record for the Largest Gathering of People Wearing Swimming Caps! Does Tybee Island know how to kick off a new year, or what?!

Help Tybee Island Set a New World Record!

Looking for a fun and fabulous way to welcome 2012? Take advantage of December 31st falling on a Saturday and spend the weekend on Tybee Island! Ring in the New Year in paradise this year. Come join in the fun as we attempt to set a new world record!

Join us and make history!

Announcing the 2012 Tybee Polar Plunge. It’s the 12th annual celebration, and this year, everyone registered to participate will be counted in the Guinness World Records® Official attempt to break the world record for the “Largest Gathering of People Wearing Swimming Caps!” The current record is 546and was set on July 3, 2011 in Japan…but we just know Tybee can beat it! Please, join us January 1st at the Tybee Island Pier…you can be a part of history! Spots are limited, so make sure to register today! Participants are invited to wear crazy costumes as they jump into the waves, so let your imagination go wild! All event proceeds benefit the restoration of the Tybee Post Theater on Tybee Island. Participants will receive a 2012 Polar Plunge t-shirt and swim cap with registration.

PRE REGISTRATION for the Polar Plunge and World Record Attempt begins December 31, 2011 at 1-4 PM at the Tybee Round-about. Come pick up your plunge packet and get your swim cap and beat the rush! It’s just $25 each to register, so don’t miss your chance! Have a Merry Christmas on Tybee!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The big day is only four days away! Hard to believe 2011 has flown by so very fast. 2012 is definitely nipping at our heels! But, before the New Year, Christmas has finally made it to Tybee Island.

Though we’ve been busy shopping and baking, it’s not about those things at all, but family, friends, and the true reasons for the season. If you are celebrating Christmas here with us in paradise, there will be plenty of local Christmas services to enjoy! Caroling Fun on Tybee!

Every Mermaid Cottage along with all of  Tybee Island seems to be alive with the spirit of the holidays! Look around the island and you’ll know that Christmas has come to paradise. Everything is definitely merry and bright!

And, speaking of merry, if you are wanting to find seasonal fun this weekend…look no further! This Saturday, December 17th, the Tybee Christmas Caroling Trolley is coming! This is the 7th year for the event and it is sure to be a blast. Tickets for the trolley are on sale now and they always go fast, so hurry and pick your up today!

There will be holiday drinks and appetizers beginning at 5 pm at this year’s sponsor, The North Beach Grill, and the trolley departs at 6 pm, rain or shine. Flashlights are a good thing to have, too!
