If sightseeing is more your style, Tybee has you covered! Our beautiful beaches are perfect for the beach comber in you and the Tybee pier and pavilion is a great place to cast a fishing line, or just enjoy a little people watching. Don’t miss the view from the top of the Tybee Island Lighthouse. You can learn all about our island’s ecology at the Marine Science Center, or immerse yourself in Tybee’s history at the Tybee Museum. If you’re a history buff, make sure to visit Fort Pulaski, too! There’s something for everyone to enjoy on our little island.

Mermaid Sighting: This Sighting is Definitely a Sweet Treat!

Everyone at Mermaid Cottages loves seeing new mermaid sightings as they come in, and this sighting is a special treat…literally! This mermaid is made completely out of chocolate! Here’s what her creator had to share:

“I’ve stayed at the Mermaid cottage before in the past, and LOVED it.  Sadly, I can’t make it to Tybee Island this year, so I’m doing my best to bring the mermaids to me!  Here is my latest creation, my “Chocolate” mermaid.  The one pictured is Pearl, but we plan to add a Diane!” ~Marina and Aqua

July 3rd Independence Day Fireworks

July 03 2012 Tybee’s annual celebration of America’s birthday. Come early and plan to stay late as this is one of Tybee’s busiest days of the year and the island fills up fast. The show starts around dark thirty (around 9:15pm).  The fireworks are staged on the pier, but they are easily viewed from any of Tybee’s eastern beaches.    (912) 786-5444/(800) 868-2322
