This week’s mermaid sighting comes from right here on Tybee Island! Actually, this lovely lady makes her home in one of our brand new cottages. She’s kicking back and relaxing at Mermaid Cottages‘ newest addition, Barefoot Bliss Cottage! (We’ll be telling you more about this beautiful cottage soon, so stay tuned!)

This week, our sighting comes from our very own Mermaid Mona! Mona is our newest Mermaid Cottages family member and does a fabulous job helping us with guest services. Well, Mermaid Mona has outfitted her desk with loads of lovely ladies, but her most recent addition takes the cake!

There’s nothing better than a mermaid sighting waiting in our email! This week’s sighting comes from Ginny Fleming. She and her husband brought it home with them after one their visits to Sarasota, Florida.
“We found it at a downtown concrete-statue shop on the Tamiami Trail. It was “memaid-only” for under $150 and he later found the glass at a local flea-market for $5.00. Yep, $5.00! It’s my most favorite mermaid…”
Ginny tells us she is a huge collector of all things mermaid and merman. She’s even written a novel! Keys of Illusion was written with her “growing stash” of mermaids as inspiration.

We love everything mermaid around here, so when we came across the work of the amazingly talented Sheila Wolk, we had to share! Sheila does all sorts of fantasy art, but of course, her mermaids have us speechless! The detail, the color, the majesty…it’s all too perfect for words!

Mermaids are unique beings,to say the least, but BOY do these sightings take unique and quirky to an entirely new level! Our own Mermaid Melissa sent us this first sighting, but the subject was so intriguing, we had to search further!

Isn’t that amazing?! Who doesn’t love sock monkeys? Pinterest is SO amazing; there’s no telling what you might see! We were so excited about this little sock monkey, we wondered if there was a secret society of these wonderful creatures…and we were right! Look at all these Sock Monkey Mermaids!

This cool fella was featured on the Camp Sock Monkey blog. They said it was “Scooter’s Sock Monkey Mermaid yarn art by Sappymoosetree.” So cute!

And last, but certainly not least, is Mara the Mermaid Sock Monkey! This beautiful colored pencil drawing is by the wonderfully talented Marisa Hopkins of Abilene, Texas.
