Tybee Island is the perfect escape…and we mean any time of year! Sure, summer is beautiful, but our fall and even winter are fabulous. The holidays are one of our favorite times of year, so when you stay with us for your holiday, it’s the best present we could have to know you trust your special memories to Mermaid Cottages! We can’t contain our smiles when we hear from you, our cherished guests, about your successful holiday stay with us. For instance, check out what Erika and Sarah had to say about their recent Mermaid Cottages holiday:
“This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable Thanksgivings I can remember. The cottage is very whimsical and when you step outside you can hear the ocean. I believe that this was the first year in a new Thanksgiving tradition.” ~Erika W. from Mesa, AZ about a stay at The Shrimp Cottage
Plan your trip to The Shrimp today!
“This was our second year a Mermaid cottage. Dutton Waller was warm and inviting. Once we put a few lights out on the porch to have our traditional al fresco Thanksgiving, we were all set. Diane and her Thanksgiving Turkey elves took care of everything we needed. The concierge service is impeccable. I highly suggest you rent any of the Mermaid Cottages. I know we will be back again and I cannot wait.” ~Sarah S. from Los Angeles, CA about a stay at Dutton-Waller Cottage.
Dutton-Waller Cottage is just waiting for you!
Thank you for sharing Erika and Sarah! Nothing makes us happier than hearing about happy guests! We enjoyed sharing your Thanksgiving, and we hope to see y’all again real soon!

Our Mermaids (and Mermen!) are wonderful and magical and have special powers, including the ability to morph into Mer-Elves during the holiday season. They flit and flitter throughout the island spreading Christmas joy and cheer.
Some of our cottage owners like to join in, too, and after a little Swish! Swish! Poof! it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. From The Paula Deen Retail Store‘s new kitchen utensil ornaments and holiday wreaths from Seaside Sisters to Mary Kay Andrews\’ signature bike with lights, Mermaid Cottages’ holiday style is our gift to you!
And, how could dear old Santa be sure to find our little hamlet by the sea without the fantasy of lights at Fish Camp Cottage that owner Margo Cook creates every year? Tybee has been transformed into a winter wonderland…with a salty seaside flavor, of course! Yes, Tybee. There are Mer-Elves!
Christmas is in full swing around here, and we couldn’t be happier! We sure do love decking our halls each year and adding to the festive spirit of Christmas here on Tybee Island. There’s nothing better than the holidays in paradise, that’s for sure!

We are so honored to say that, for the third year in a row, Mermaid Cottages was named the Best Decorated Business on Tybee! It couldn’t have happened without every single Mermaid and Merman in our group, so we want to send out a huge Thank You and Job Well Done to our entire Mermaid Cottages family for all their hard work making every single cottage merry for the holidays. The entire island does a fabulous job with decorating, so being honored this way really warms our hearts! Just look at these beautiful pictures from Fish Camp Cottage, Paws and Paddles Cottage, Dutton-Waller Cottage, and Paula Deen’s Y’all Come Inn!
Just a few of our cottages showing their Christmas spirit!
