Mermaids in Our Midst: Happy Guests Make Us Smile!

Happy guests make us smile from ear to ear, and this message definitely made our day!

“I went to Tybee Island over Labor Day weekend with my fiance, his parents, and my parents and had a wonderful time. I love the No Where To Go Cottage, it felt like home. It was clean, very large, and very pretty. The beach was just a short walk across the street and the beach is beautiful. My fiancée and I booked our wedding in Jamaica until we went to Tybee. We canceled our wedding and have now booked it in Tybee and will be using one of the Mermaid Cottages for your reception and honeymoon. Thanks Mermaid Cottages, you and the southern charm of Tybee stole our hearts and this will be a place I will come every year from now on. See you all on June 4th for my wedding.”

Thanks so much for sharing this Ashley, and congratulations! We can’t wait to see you this June!

Live Like a Local: Tybee’s Polar Plunge!

This Friday, 2010 comes to a close and we ring in 2011! We here on Tybee love a good excuse for a party, and a new year is definitely a great one! So, ring in 2011 the right way on Tybee at the annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks show! The show starts at the stroke of midnight at the Pier and Pavilion, so don’t miss it!
The fun doesn’t end on New Year’s Eve either. This year is the 11th annual Tybee Polar Plunge! The Polar Plunge isn’t just a fun way to start the new year; it’s a great event for a great cause.

This event helps to fund $1000 scholarships for nursing students at AASU going for a BSN degree and who have agreed to remain and work in the Chatham County medical community. Last year’s Plunge at the Pier and Pavilion saw about 1000 participants and 5000 spectators, so it is definitely a must see! Make sure to visit the Tybee Polar Plunge web page for more information on how to register for the fun. If cold water isn’t your thing, no problem! Come just to watch the craziness! We hope to see you on Tybee this weekend…there’s no better place to ring in a brand new year!

Mermaid Tales: Nowhere To Go Cottage

Welcome to 1106 Lovell Avenue and Nowhere To Go Cottage. Don’t let the name fool you…there’s plenty to do and see during your visit! This home is a classic beach retreat, just perfect for families, a girls weekend, or even a girl scout adventure. Nowhere To Go sits on a large lot, so there’s plenty of outdoor living to do. Bring your pets too! The yard isn’t fenced, but it is still Fido friendly.

Grill out, enjoy a book on the back deck, or the shade of the mature palms; anything goes! You may feel wonderfully secluded, but you aren’t far from Butler Avenue and everything the island has to offer! Take an easy one and a half block stroll to the beach, ride your bike to the local IGA Market for supplies, or visit some of Tybee’s favorite restaurants…you are close to it all!
Need to feel the bliss of having nothing specific to do, and nowhere particular to go? Plan a visit now; island time is all the time on Tybee! See you soon!
