The Small Business Saturday Tree Lighting is coming up on November 27! Join us on Tybee Island as we ring in the holidays with a lighted, evening Christmas parade and tree lighting. Santa Claus arrives in town led by a parade of lights down to the beach. At the beachfront roundabout, watch as Tybeetians light up our city’s 18-foot tree. Then enjoy Christmas caroling, dancing, holiday refreshments and more by the seashore!

Mermaid Cottages and novelties are a match made more perfect when you visit and admire them during your stays.  Some cottages are solely decorated by their owners and sometimes owners ask us to add a few mermaid touches here and there.  Other times, our guests have such special bonds with their favorite cottages we often find secret baubles and mementos they leave behind and that’s okay. One of the greatest pleasures we enjoy is when our guests love our happy little houses as much as we do. Here are some of our favorite geegaws, gimcracks and objets d’art. Rain Porches and Mermaid Cottages go together like cottage charm and coastal calm. The slanted roofs that hang out over them do serve a purpose.  They help protect our happy little homes by the sea from wind and rain and their designs help the overhangs adjust to the dampness and the humidity. No matter their functional aspects, it’s the very calming and romantic serenades they produce with the rain that makes them so desirable and enjoyable.  Porches with ceiling fans and screened additions help extend our porch-sitting season and when these roofs shield us from the wind and direct the rain away from our rockers and swings the tunings of the rainfall delight and enchant.
