It’s spring time, and the mermaids are coming out to enjoy the weather! Our sighting this week comes from our official Mermaid Cottages Facebook Page. Jamie, a loyal fan from Tennessee, shared her sighting on our page and we had to make sure everyone got the chance to see it!

Mermaid Manor has a fully equipped kitchen, but if eating out is more your speed, AJ’s Dockside Restaurant is 1 block away. They are a definite must-visit while on our little island! This home is also a short 10 minute stroll from your door to the unique shopping and dining of Downtown Tybee Island. And, after long days of beach combing and exploring, finish up a perfect day by watching the spectacular sunsets over Tybee’s beautiful marshes. It just doesn’t get any better than that!

It’s a Seaside Sisters PEEP Show!

Easter weekend is HERE and it is the perfect time to head to Tybee Island! Before you celebrate with your family Sunday, bring everyone to Seaside Sisters on Tybee…they’re having a PEEP SHOW!!! That’s right, we all love those little birdies made of marshmallow goodness. Come out Saturday, April 7^th, for all the fun!

The Peeptacular Peep Show will be held from 12-4 p.m. this Saturday and the gals at Seaside Sisters are celebrating the Easter triad of treats…Chocolate, jelly beans and marshmallow PEEPS! There’s will also be fun activities you won’t want to miss:

Noon til 1:00 PM – PEEPS SLINGSHOT CONTEST –For ages 6 and over…let em fly!

1:30-2:30 PM – Food and Recipeeps –Confections or other uses of Peeps on a Plate, to be judged by local Tybee chef.

3:00-4:00 PM – Bodacious Bonnet & Centerpiece Contest– Judged by none other than Mary Kay Andrews!
4:00 PM – Peepular Culture– Whatever you wanna make…diaramas, art, etc.

Mermaids in the Kitchen: Turkey and White Bean Chili

Yay! We are so excited around here; It seems you heard our call for recipes, because we’d had several submissions of delicious dishes! This week, we have a chili that sounds so good, it’ll make you miss those colder months. We’re pretty sure it’s fabulous any time of year, though! The recipe is Turkey and White Bean Chili from Kathleen; here’s what she had to say:

“My family loves Tybee and the Mermaid Cottages year-round, but we’ve recently begun a tradition of renting a cottage the week after New Year’s. Here’s a recipe for winter beach weather!” ~Kathleen B. Lewis, Atlanta, GA (formerly of Savannah)

April is here, the weather is beautiful, and we couldn’t be more excited. April means it’s time for the Tybee Island Winefest again! All you wine lovers out there, get ready! Tybee’s 2012 Winefest promises to have something for everyone, so clear your calendar for next weekend, because you don’t want to miss the fun!

Thursday, April 12th, through Sunday, April 15th, The Historic Tybee Post Theater will be hosting the 4th Annual Tybee Island Wine Festival! No matter what you enjoy, from wine to culinary delights, there will be something for everyone. This year, there are four main events to tempt your taste beds. There’s Seafood School on Thursday, An Evening of Oysters and Wine on Friday, the Grand Wine Tasting on Saturday, ending with the Champagne Brunch Sunday morning.
