We so happy to tell you about an upcoming event that’ll have you ringing up your gal pals and heading our way. Coming soon will be The Hallelujah Girls in Tybee Island. The Tybee Arts Association (TAPS) presents The Hallelujah Girls May 9, 10, 11, 12 and 17, 18, 19 at the Tybee Arts Center’s Jim Ingham Black Box Theatre.
The play covers a year in the lives of five feisty women of Eden Falls, Georgia. The gals decide to shake up their lives after the death of a friend, and the comedy starts with turning an abandoned church into Spa-Dee-Dah, day spa. Comic tension mounts when an ex-boyfriend and an unlikely suitor show up. We’ll watch through building renovations, facial goo applications, all awaiting the installation of a sauna, and the discovery of treasure. No story would be complete without a villain, but the women rally together to overcome obstacles and launch their new and improved lives.
Director Carol Ingham says, ” The audience will find a lot of talent on our stage! A marvelous story, lots of laughs, and even a bit of a message. It’s okay to laugh right out loud, jump up and shout ‘Hallelujah!'”
Evening performances are 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees are 3:30 p.m. There’s no show on May 16 so everyone can enjoy the Beach Bum Parade. On Sunday, May 18,there will be two performances (a matinee at 3:30 and an evening show at 7:30).
