We can’t get away from Winter fast enough, so sound out your May Day! It’s Tybee Time! Let’s face it. A trip to the beach is wonderful any time of year and for any reason, so there doesn’t have to be any particular time for you to enjoy our island. Fortunately, Tybee Island always has something wonderful going on and it’s helpful to know about upcoming events so you can move things around to be here when you see something you like. For instance, May is filling up already, but here are some great events you’ll want to consider when planning your next getaway.
Tybee Rainbow Days
On Friday, May 1st, the annual SCAD Sand Arts Festival showcases the sculptural talents of SCAD students, alumni and staff as they scramble to create temporary masterpieces in the Tybee Island sand. Presented by the SCAD School of Foundation Studies, this event features competitions in sand castle design, sand sculpture, sand relief and wind sculpture. Competition is limited to SCAD students, alumni and staff, but the public is invited to observe the creation of these works of art. Registration is free and takes place the day of the event (In case of rain, the festival will be held on Friday, May 8).
