Another fun packed, sun filled weekend is on the way with these eight exciting events from Tybee to Savannah! The azaleas have begun to pop and the sands of our beaches are warming up, too. You just come on down and dress just about any way you want. With all of these fantastic events lined up, there’s sure to be several attractions that are just right for you!
May 1-3, we’ll be down by the riverside. This family fun event will have filled with arts and crafts and lots of shrimp, crawfish, oysters, and crab. Live entertainment will take place on the Rousakis Plaza Arbor Stage creating a beach party dance scene. Grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts are optional, but encouraged! May First Friday Fireworks will be presented by Wet Willie’s at 9:30 p.m.
The early bird gets the tour! Join the group at the Davenport House Museums at 10 a.m. in Savannah to see what survives of the 1820s Savannah that master builder Isaiah Davenport knew.
Also on Saturday, make sure your pleats are in the back as the grand celebration of Scottish Culture brings more family fun to Savannah There’ll be music, dancing and athletic competitions, children’s activities, shopping, food, and fun for all.
Fairy and Gnome Festival at Oatland Island Wildlife Center
If fantasy is more of what you have in mind for a family outing, come to Oatland Island Wildlife Center for a day of enchantment at their Fairy and Gnome Festival on May 2 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. This fantastical day is all about the “wee folk” and getting up close and personal with some very delightful creatures. Where else can you sport those fairy wings and pointy hats you so love?
