Top Five Wow Tybee Events

Every time folks visit Tybee Island for the first time (and, quite frankly, every time they visit) they say WOW!  Soon, you’ll really get excited when you enjoy these top five WOW Tybee events!

AquaCurean is a gourmet seafood, spirits and music celebration, taking place at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, April 25 — 27, 2014.  The event will showcase some of best seafood and hand-crafted spirits from Savannah and around the country. The AquaCurean Challenge includes a seafood recipe competition and a hand-crafted cocktail competition.  The mission of this event is to create a community event that draws participation from the local and national stages. Moreover, its goal is to raise money for children’s charities here in Savannah.

The 10th Annual Tybee Turtle trot 5k is April 26th.  This annual beach run and sea turtle release helps kick off Georgia’s sea turtle nesting season.  After the race, the GEORGIA SEA TURTLE CENTER is releasing a Loggerhead Sea Turtle patient back to the ocean from Tybee.  And, meet their mascot Scute and learn all about sea turtles at the GSTC s Education Station located in front of the Tybee Island Marine Science Center.

Also on April 26th, the Can Tourists present the Vintage Trailer Trot.  See over 70 vintage trailers from 1939-1980′s at the River’s End Campground on Tybee Island.  Adults — $5.00 Children (6-12) — 3.00 and all proceeds benefit local charities.

Then, enjoy a traditional Irish concert featuring traditional Irish instrumentation from Brian McNamara, Kieran O’Hare, Liz Knowles, and Pat Broaders.  The concert is at 8pm at the old elementary school on Tybee Island.  Tickets: $20

Finally, on Sunday, April 27th, enjoy the Tybee Island Kite Flying Festival.  It’s at 11am from the North Beach Parking Lot at the beach area. Come out to fly a kite to support and create awareness about Parkinson’s and other movement disorders.  The $10 REGISTRATION includes Gumbo and a Kite and music will be provided by The Band with No Name.  There’ll also be a Kite Design Contest for students of Savannah Arts Academy.  You can even choose from beginner Kites from IntotheWind.com or bring your own!
