The 16th Annual Tybee Island Sea Kayak Races are coming up soon, so plan to be with us to cheer our kayakers! On Saturday, September 13th, we’ll all gather at AJ’s Dockside Restaurant to watch all of the race day launches. This event is a benefit for the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, a non-profit marine science education facility offering hands-on programs for school and scout groups, as well as for the general public. The Tybee Turtle Project, which monitors loggerhead sea turtle nesting and hatching activities on Tybee, is managed by the Marine Science Center.
You can also contribute by purchasing tickets for the race day drawing for the Perception kayak, Werner paddle, & Astral PFD donated by Half-Moon Outfitters. Tickets are 1 for $5, or 3 for $10. Tickets are available at the Marine Science Center, at Papa’s BBQ and Seafood on Whitemarsh Island and at Half-Moon Outfitters on Broughton St. You do not have to be present to win. All racers should sign up by September 7th to get the early registration price at $10 less than regular registration. Register on-line or download the registration form and mail it in.

Madelyn’s on the Marsh circa 1940 is a very affordable and value priced family cottage that’s also pet friendly. It’s located on the marsh with views of our amazing sunrises and bird watching.
Paula Deen’s Savannah Beach House Y’all Come Inn is Paula’s personal beach retreat. Your stay here includes special Paula Deen goodies, a personalized cookbook from Paula and VIP reservations for Lady & Sons restaurant.
Crabby Pirate circa 1940 is another value-priced cottage located directly on the marsh. You’ll love it’s bright, beachy décor and the fantastic marsh views. It’s pet friendly, has a fenced-in yard and outdoor seating where bird watching is at a premium.
