The Wizard of Oz Comes to Tybee!
Trying to make plans for the weekend? Look no further than Tybee Island! If you love live theater, boy, are you in luck! This weekend is opening weekend for the local production of the Wizard of Oz!
This production is brought to life through the joint efforts of the Tybee Arts Association, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, and the Historic Post Theater, and it is going to be fabulous! This play will be held in arena theatre style at the Tybee Gymnasium. Directors Reneé DeRossett and Kim Tramell have assembled a super talented cast of over sixty actors. The show will even include live animals! As an audience member, you will be surrounded by the performance through rolling satellite stages, projections, and the amazing fifty foot main stage, so prepare for a sensory experience you won’t be forgetting any time soon!
Don’t miss this amazing show! It’s only on for two weekends, so clear those calendars. There are three shows this weekend, July 22nd,23rd, and 24th, then three next weekend, July 29th, 30th, and 31st. The Friday and Saturday shows are evening productions with curtain time at 7:30 p.m. Each Sunday show is a matinee, with a curtain time of 3 p.m. Tickets are only available at the door the day of the show, so get there early! The box office will open 90 minutes prior to show time. Tickets are $20 per person for adults and $15 per person for children 12 years and under. Make sure to mention if you are a Tybee Arts Association member, too! Member tickets are only $18!
