Knight Takes A Snow Day

A few weeks ago, Mermaid Cottages introduced Knight, our newest puppy in training to become a Guide Dog or Service Dog for a person with disabilities.  He’s just a wee lad and everything is all bright and new to him.  Until it’s time to get his training vest and attend “big boy” school, he is in the care of Sandy, our wonderful Puppy Walker.

Sandy includes Knight in every part of her day to day life, introducing him to the sights and sounds of our wonderful world and teaching him his basic socialization skills.  She makes sure he gets used to being out in public among people and other animals and teaches him very valuable life skills that some day will make a difference to the person he eventually gets paired.

Rencently, Sandy headed north and Knight experienced snow for the first time!  In true wide eyed, fascination and excitement, Knight carefully inspected the cold and fluffy white stuff and then took off running and playing.

Your Vote Counts!

It’s that time again! The Critz Tybee Run Fest  is right around the corner (February 3rd and 4th) and they are having their annual contest to choose this year’s t-shirt design! Many local and regional artists submitted, and some entries even came from as far away as Oregon and New Jersey! Loads of wonderful work was submitted and a panel of judges made up of race organizers and the Savannah Morning News did the hard job of narrowing the group down to the top five finalists. Now? Well, it’s your turn to help!

Check out the Top Five, think it over, pick your favorite, then head over and VOTE! Voting is happening now, and will run through January 5th. You’re voting for the design you think should grace the 2012 Critz Tybee Run Fest t-shirt! It’s going to be a hard choice…just look how wonderful they all are!

Check out the top five designs over on the voting page now!

Aren’t they great! Good luck to all the artists; we can’t wait to see which design is chosen for the t-shirt! Remember, you only have until January 5th to have your say in which design is the winner! Cast your vote now!

Mermaid Cottages Merriment!

Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday. It’s such a wonderful time of year. It’s one of our favorites around here at Mermaid Cottages, so of course we love to deck the halls! We wanted to share some of our 2011 Christmas decorations from around Mermaid Cottages with you. These are just a few of the fabulous, festive trees and other decor from our merry cottages!

Mermaids Denise and Jan did an amazing job spreading the merriment throughout our cottages! We hope your Christmas season was wonderful and full of family, friends, and warm memories that will last for years and years! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Y’all!

Mermaid Cottages in the Media!

We are always excited when Mermaid Cottages gets a mention or a feature in the media! Forbes Magazine recently mentioned the wonderful Paula Deen’s Ya’ll Come Inn in their recent article, When a Celebrity is Your Landlord. We couldn’t be more excited and honored that Ya’ll Come Inn and Mermaid Cottages were mentioned!

Paul Deen‘s special Tybee Island retreat is a true treasure, and we are honored to call it part of our Mermaid family. Paula is all about giving back and sharing with her fans as much as possible.  When she bought the house, it was intended to be their family beach escape.   But the reality was, due to her hectic traveling and appearance schedule, she is lucky just to find time to enjoy her home in Savannah, let alone the Tybee beach house.  Because it is so beautiful, she decided it would be an outstanding opportunity to share something that is very personal and beautiful to her and open it up to visits from her fans.   She offers the home at the best price, comparative to the other island homes. She also sweetens the pot by adding even more of her personal Paula Touch with special gifts to visiting guests that include VIP reservations to her restaurants, The Lady and Sons or Uncle Bubba’s, a personalized autographed cookbook, and a Paula Deen Bag of Goodies with spices & treats!  Unlike most of the vacation rentals on Tybee, Paula will not even allow the restriction of a minimum nights stay.  To help her fans even more, she loves to offer even lower rates for them during the off season, like the one we have now for the winter.

We couldn’t be more proud that Paula Deen’s Y’all Come Inn is part of the Mermaid Cottages family! If you want to learn more, check out our booking information page or call our Reservation Mermaids Denise and Jan at 912.655.6525 or 912.658.1550. Make sure you check out the article over on the Forbes site as well!
