Aloha To Our Midwest Mermaid

Aloha To Our Midwest Mermaid. The Midwest Mermaid has been our winter guest blogger and Mermaid Cottages is so sad to share her final blog post. She’s shared a photo blog of her snowbird stay with us as she worked remotely from Tybee Island. Aloha can mean hello or goodbye. In this case we’re hoping it means ’til we meet again. Read along, enjoy her beautiful photos and her Tybee Island Adventures.

One of the best ways to see the island is on a bicycle. There is a specific route that you can take which brings you through parks, former military areas and allows you to see all of the brightly colored houses.

I love that people on the island don’t care how bright their house is, they just embrace the beach colors which makes it so unique and special.

Well, reason #531 why it was great to escape Chicago this time of year. I received this note from my Alderman last week. I don’t even kind of miss it!

Flowers for my hair, a pineapple mug for drinks and my mermaid blanket for style!

Great news! I came to Tybee to be sure I would remain active in the winter. I walked 130 miles in the month of January. I would say I am achieving my goal! …

“The absence of old friends one can endure with equanimity. But even a momentary separation from anyone to whom one has just been introduced is almost unbearable.” – Oscar Wilde

Gibson’s is an amazing restaurant in Chicago, and I received a shipment from my sister this week! So excited to break out the grill and can’t wait to have a taste of Chicago. This weekend, a huge snowstorm hit Chicago. I don’t even kind of miss it. Although I don’t have to shovel due to living in a high rise, I still am so excited I don’t have to navigate through it all. What a blessing!

There was a Wolf Moon this week. Not even sure what it is except it was breathtaking. It made me go out for two walks that day and hit 16,000 steps! Thank you Wolf Moon!

Tybee Time Walks With The Midwest Mermaid

Tybee Time walks with The Midwest Mermaid are when she strolls about taking in the history and the beauty of our little barrier island. Whether at sunrise or sunset, nature springs forth with daily show times for all to see. On Tybee Island, the clock slows down to a quirky, laissez faire and no one cares about deadlines or where the hands on the clocks may be.  It’s called Tybee Time and it’s just fine with all who venture here. The Midwest Mermaid sums it up best…

“It reminds me of a very important lesson in life. If something doesn’t seem right, just wait, it can change in a moment and become amazing.”
