More Tybee Turtle Action!

If you know anything about Mermaid Cottages, you know we love our sea turtles! Well, the nest action keeps on coming here on Tybee Island. Nest Four hatched Friday, August 5th, during a rain storm. The wonderful folks over at the Tybee Sea Turtle Project even excavated a bit earlier than they planned due to more inclement weather. They found that 82 babies had hatched and made it out of the nest! The also found 17 unhatched eggs and one live baby straggler they happily released into the waves. No casualties either, so Nest Four was a success! Don’t you just love good news? We sure do!

A Tybee Island Novella

I dropped a tear in the ocean.  The day you find it
is the day I will stop missing you.  ~Author Unknown

Coming Soon!

Are you sad that All My Children is coming to an end?  Erica Kane never had story lines as good as this!

Follow the lives of an old world family and their connections to the Mermaids of the sea through the four generations that settle in the south and eventually establish Sea La Vie, their Tybee Island Beach Cottage.

The family’s existence and their progress is directly related to the gods and mermaids of the seas…but they don’t always know it.

Tune in each week to follow this saga and for your chance to submit your design ideas for Sea La Vie as this family’s story unfolds.

You may even be asked to submit photos and drawings of what you think the land dwellers and their mysterious sea benefactors look like!

Get ready to meet Roya, the Mermaid Queen.  It’s said her tears would turn into priceless pearls and that her kiss could cure disease.  Anger her and she could command a legion of mermaids to take humans deep beneath the sea, drown them and then eat them.  What do you think she would look like?

Sea La Vie is a progressive, participatory novella.  Heed the sirens’ calls.  You may just end up in a story line!

Be sure to check here each day to join us on this journey.

The adventure starts this weekend!

Carolina Mermaids

It is never too early to think about the holidays, so we were super excited to see these merry mermaids sent to us from our fan, Debbie! Debbie spotted these lovely ladies close to home around Christmas-time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Aren’t they festive?!

Fabulous, festive mermaids from Debbie in Myrtle Beach, SC!

Debbie isn’t just a fan…she’s a mermaid at heart! In her own words, she is a mom of three grown children, joyously married, animal lover who loves small town living, old musicals, and Judy Garland movies. Debbie is a Tennessee girl who ended up living her dream in the Lowcounrty of South Carolina. She shares her love of all things Southern and Coastal in her Amazon shop, Carolina Cottage, and on her blog, Debbie’s Front Porch. Make sure you stop by and visit her Carolina Cottage shop (she even has an entire section dedicated to mermaids!) and spend a little time reading all about her view of Lowcountry living! Thanks for sharing your sighting and shop with us Debbie! Don’t be a stranger!

Check out some of the offerings from Debbie's shop, Carolina Cottage!

Have you seen a mermaid lately? We’d sure love to hear about it! Please send your pictures and stories to diane@mermaidcottages.com and let us share them with everyone, right here on our blog! We can’t wait to hear from you!
