The Sound of Music Sing-a-Long at the Hollywood Bowl

I am here in LA visiting my sister to celebrate her 50th birthday. We have all kinds of plans – First up — we are going to the Hollywood Bowl tomorrow night (Friday) for the Sound of Music Sing-a-Long.
The Hollywood Bowl is one of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world and has a seating capacity of just under 18,000. It is the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922 and also has seen such luminary artists as Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Elton John.
Tomorrow night, the Bowl is transformed into the world’s largest outdoor movie theater. It’s a wonderful evening and only happens once every year or so. The Sound of Music is shown on a huge screen and everyone sings along to every song. We are given goody bags upon arrival filled with props (hey – afterall, this is LA) to use during the movie. A favorite – when Capt. Von Trapp kisses Maria for the first time, we have poppers to pull (you know – those little poppers people pull a string and confetti shoots out). Imagine 18,000 people singing together in the Hollywood Hills while confetti flies everywhere.
I can’t wait to experience the fun! What a great way to start my sister’s birthday celebration!!!
So look for pictures of our evening…… And after that — it’s off to Vegas! VIVA LAS VEGAS….. And although they say “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” — won’t apply to us. Our Big 50 birthday celebration will be posted all over my blog!
